Jorge Borges' critically acclaimed short story, Museum: On Exactitude in Science, described the rise and fall of an empire. An excerpt from the story served as the basis of the design for a visual metaphor retelling a modern-day empire: Walter White from the popular TV show Breaking Bad. The story is portrayed through a guide & notebook of basic chemistry. The book also references an instrumental prop in the show, which triggered the fall of White's empire.
Book Structure:
Left Pages: A basic guide to chemistry referencing White’s origins as a high school chemistry teacher. The guide slowly turns into a formula to produce the “99% pure blue crystal meth” his character develops in the show.
Vellum Overlay: The original Borges text & a notes page for White’s input into the story unfolding.
Right Pages: A chronological document of significant scenes & artifacts from the show.
9 X 6” Hand Bound Book / Typefaces: Univers & Baskerville / 52 pages
